Antique Wooden Cash Register or Till with Key Sliding Drawer with Bell Chime Early 1900s. Gledhill or OBrien's Register? Would make a great gift for a special occasion or keep for yourself! Beautiful un-restored wood cash register from the early 1900s. Registers were also called tills in the old days. Nice intact wood case here. We have just wiped down. The case could still use a good cleaning.

Case has dovetailed or finger joints on the back and front sides. Has a serial number of "76246" on the inside wood ledge of the case. The top is securely attached to the case by the hinges. Hairline to top out on the hinge side, still securely together.

The brass side access door is in place and the lock latch is in place and operates. The slide latch on the other side works and moves some gearing along a long rod, not sure what the function is. The metal unit on the top of the register is intact, no dings or dents. Looks to be for holding the ink print tape. The lift metal door on it is still securely in place.

There are a couple lift out wood drawers inside the case. The two spring loaded clips to hold cash in place are still in place and springs operating. The case is dirty inside and a lot of ink, may grease buildup over the years, so needs a good cleaning. The turn knob on the front of the register still operates. Even still has the wood turn knob on it.

The gold colored fancy knob on the front of the cash drawer is still in place. Lots of finish loss from use/wear. The register even still has the key that locks the top down and can also be used to look the cash drawer. The locks are functioning appropriately.

These pieces do not typically come with a key. Not sure of the maker. A number of manufacturers made these being G H Gledhill, O'Brien's, etc. This type register was commonly used in general stores, stables, blacksmith automobile shops etc.. Not one of the fancy ones you would see in an apothecary or candy/soda fountain area.

No number keys with sort of register. Purpose was to be able to generate a duplicate copy invoice/receipt, one for customer and one for the merchant's needs. All the major pieces of the wooden cash register seem to be here, but can't be certain that all there. So, what you see is what you get.

This Antique Wood Register is 19.5" long, by 9.5" across, by 11.5" wide by metal cover on top (9.5" tall by wood case only).
