The marble ledge above the till drawer was used to tap coins to check for forgeries, which would have a different sound to genuine currency. This particalu till is Model number is 349, serial number 925,586 which in accordance with the records dates this till to being made between December 1910 and December 1911. The brass has nicely aged and has a lovely warm patina.The till keys are all original and still intact and working. On pressing the shillings and pence keys, the cash draw will fly open The price keys in the display window will also pop up but will drop down again after the key is released. There are also the original keys to the till itself. This is an amazing piece of history and the register is not only a beautiful piece that would look superb as a display piece in any shop, cafe, bar or restaurant.
Equally it would make a lovely display piece in any home. The approximate MAXIMUM dimensions are: 15 1/2 inches (39.5 cm) wide x 16 1/4 inches (41 cm) deep x 17 inches (43.5 cm) high.
The till is in full working order and complete with all it's keys which is a nice feature. It has age related knocks / wear commensurate with age and use.The glass may have been replaced at some point.
