National Cash Register Company Vintage Till 4153 1938 Prop Shop Display Black

Vintage Till produced by the National Cash Register Company. This model seems to be a bit of a rarity on the UK market as most seems to have been made for the US/Canadian market which is where NCR Co were based. Original guarantee is attached on the underside of the drawer - dye of manufacture 24th March 1938. Made for Mr G Parker, Bank Buildings, High Street, Bedford.

Bell works when till drawer opens. Comes with two keys - When lock is moved to the'reset' position, the number display appears which shows the days takings, No. The right hand crank can then be raised to reset the counters. Photos show the counters in both positions. This seems to be the equivalent to the modern day'X' and'Z' readings.

The till is in a black textured finish with chrome detail. All generally in good condition - Some wear and minor blistering to the chrome in places and very minor chips to the black finish. Pretty good condition really for something which is over 80 years old.

The till is showing that is has only ever had 15 resets (two of those I have done). Based on that, and the general condition of the till, I don't think it has had a lot of use. It's a nice compact design so it's quite versatile as it could be displayed in many places - Dimensions are. This would be perfect as a prop or make a lovely display piece.
