Vintage Retro Gross Retail Till Cash Register Metal Blue Red Old Shop Fittings

Stunning vintage Gross cash register/shop till. Very quirky piece, has a great retro look.

Likely to date from around 1950's/1960's. Made from solid metal, grey in colour with a lovely aged patina. Plastic keys are black, red and white/cream. Keys are in good condition for age with all markings clearly visible.

Till also has ribbed rubberised cover to both the till front and bottom platform in a nice vibrant blue. All of the keys are fully working and cash drawer opens promptly when they are pressed. As is intended, the "SET" key does not push down to open till. Till still sounds clearly when opened. Bell makes a lovely nostaligic'ding' noise.

When a number/price key is pressed the price card of the corresponding selection pops up in the glass display area to the top. All cards are present and intact. Keys can be pressed independently or simultaneously and price cards display accordingly. Internally there are 3 black plastic/bakelite compartments to hold notes. Could still be used in modern day once you get used to it or could be refurbished to bring into the modern day.

With it's original black & chrome maker's plaque to the bottom which states Gross Cash Registers Ltd. The gold sticker to the top of the till states Type Add Mechanics Typewriters Add Mach.

Wenzel 130 Gorwel Llanfairfechen LL33 0DS Tel: 0248 680562. Blue "Gross" logo is also present to the front. Unfortunately we no longer have the key so the till cannot be unlocked at the moment.

The till does however work without the key. Chrome lock is engraved with the "Union" maker's mark. To the underside of the till there are rubber feet to protect surface.

Item is old and has been used heavily so does show signs of age and wear... There are scuff marks and scratches consistent with age. The glass display has a crack to the back, although this isn't very noticeable from the front (please see last photo).

There are areas of surface rust across the till, as well as several splatters of old paint (mostly white and blue). Some of the keys are slightly chipped. Till needs a clean but one side is particularly dirty and would benefit from a good scrub! Unfortunately, there is no coin compartment to the front. Measurements are as follows: Height: 45cm Width: 37cm Depth: 40cm Maximum Depth (When fully opened): 68cm Item is very heavy for it's size.
